Happy Staff, Happy Parents, Happy Children!

I am Happy!

Believe it or not, researchers have come up with a happiness equation.

Fifty percent of your score is determined by what you come into the world with – your genes. That is, most of us have a natural tendency to either think of the cup as half-full or as half-empty.
Ten percent of happiness quotient is determined by life circumstances, such as being married or earning a high wage.
While you may not have a lot control over these first two factors, the remaining 40% is directly affected by activities and things you choose do. In essence, how you spend your day, how you engage with others and how you take care of yourself can make you happier.
The great thing about being a parent or working with children is that your day has activities built in that promote happiness. Look at these five key activities that have been identified as increasing happiness:
  1. Doing things for others
  2. Connecting with people
  3. Noticing the world around you
  4. Continuing to learn new things
  5. Being part of something bigger
These are the everyday activities of adults caring for children! Happiness and positive emotion are contagious. A baby’s giggle, the smile of co-workers, joyful singing and playful interactions all work together to create happier and jubilant environment.
Being with children is a great opportunity to cultivate happiness. Laughter changes our body chemistry and gives you a benefit similar to working out in the gym. It also increases blood flow, builds our immune system, and improves relaxation and sleep.
So, encourage those belly laughs, engage in play and see from the world from a child’s point of view. It can increase the happiness and your improve your health!
